These are the Issues I love… article after article of things to come. So.. where to start?  Surprisingly, with a bit of a sheepish grin.  You see, I got done reading an article written for a different section of this site – Remembrances.  It’s by RW Klarin – the LA FP  Senior Reporter – about Venice West, a poetry den of the Beats -as in beatniks, circa 1950.  Well, this particular group almost made it into the mid-60s, but not quite, they got tossed out on their poetic ears in September of ’64.

Point is,  they  were a pretty docile group, if there were going to be a march, that was only because the 60s were upon them. And the contrast of that. to what’s in this Issue, just 2 years later, is clear: now, everybody’s got something to say about something, and the more broadly they can broadcast it, the better.

All of that being said, let’s look at ‘today’s ‘ headlines.. and see what these articles portend for the established order or, as others might say – The Establishment.

*First up, one of those ‘sub-headlines’ up at the top of the Front Page: UNDERGROUNDS MEET LES CRANE You can read the article for yourself as it is on the ‘inside’ page posted here. But, let me go straight to what I think is, in this article, the ‘dire warning’ to that Establishment. In its first portion, the participants are identified:  Les Crane, a talk show host, and those whom he was going to interview: Art Kunkin, Publisher of the LA Free Press (yes, that is us), John Bryan, Editor and Publisher of Open City, Joe Dana, the Southern California Oracle coordinator, and Derek Taylor – described as an ‘at large reporter for both underground and establishment press’.

The germinating seed is clearly visible in the commonality of those representatives of the underground press, best stated, perhaps, by John Bryan.  He opined “…we are entering a period where we’ll no longer be called underground  but alternative…and do something about changing society…”.  The clue that this actually, really and truly was going to happen was how it was immediately dismissed by those ‘sold’ on the mainstream media, Les Crane for one.

50 years later, MSNBC is firmly in our mold of news with a personal opinion, our (the LA FP’s ) logo line “Every Reader is a Reporter”IS the basis of blogging, and if those two factors weren’t enough, “Fake News”is believed as often as the (false) claim of “Fair and Balanced News”.  And, we, “Tha Alternative News” ARE changing the world… for the better.

*Again, we’re here 50 years later and, at this point in time, the Bloodless Revolution Urged By Guaranteed Wage Author is a done deal.  Yes, it sounds more real than it really is… as the higher wage is, in many places, only reached after several years, but… it DID happen. Without a shgot fired.

And who, exactly, made it happen? Blacks and students, as proposed? Did they really ‘win’ or was the goal put off so long, that it is actually overdue, and they are still underpaid? And, importantly, how many of the other advances can or have come about?  Don’t see the balance of those on the page above? Click on the link in the lines above… and then(!) post your thoughts where you couuold wind up as the ‘featured’ speaker.  (Go ahead, click… you’ll see what we mean.)

*But, oh, my oh my, there’s more:  Don’t Applaud The Clap.  Here’s our take away… protesting the problem, rather than promoting the cure…  doesn’t seem to solve anything.  And yet, so went the anti-war movement… go figure.

*And, finally, we think we’ve saved the best for last – take a look at the bottom photo. and caption.. It’s Not Quite Alt-Right but, someday…
