Duration : 0:6:55

Johnson had his …
Johnson had his ideas and did whatever was needed to get as much as he could.
He was more effective than Kennedy at getting controversial policies made into law.
JFK was well intentioned, and I would have voted for JFK, reality is, Johnson had the hutspah to make hard choices during a time a radical social change in the country.
LBJ is one the …
LBJ is one the greatest presidents of all time along with JFK
i am a proud liberal and i continue to support my party and america i love i respect this beautiful country and despite all of the critics i do support our current president Obama and i did in fact vote for him the republicans had their chance in the white house now it is our time but of course it is still early but i believe we will over come the odds as one nation.
Vietnam ended up …
Vietnam ended up being johnsons war, because he was the one who escalated it by sending 500,00 troops their, and it was a disaster. Having said that, i think that when one examins his record, he was a good president. He show continuity after the kennedy assasinations, passed the civil rights bill that banned discrimination, and launched huge initiatives to end poverty and unemployment, plus helped advance america in the space race. So beside his misjudgment in vietnam, he was a good president
Sometimes when I’m …
Sometimes when I’m feeling the pressure, I come back to videos like this feel a sense of hope again. Racial injustice still exists. This however reminds me where and how got where we are today and progress that has been made.
LBJ would have …
LBJ would have passed this healthcare bill a lot faster than Obama. LBJ had strength and courage and I don’t see that in Obama. If he had led and fought for healthcare like a LBJ or a FDR, the opposition wouldn’t have settled in.
Johnson proves that …
Johnson proves that Texas can produce great presidents as long as they were responsible for their own fates instead of having a silver spoon.
That might be tru. …
That might be tru. But Johnson was not a big government president. althought he has promoted the so-called great society social engineering. Johnson was a conservative democrat. The democrats did not rule the southern states after 1968 and was only a small portions of the southern votes after then. Johnson was the first social democrat ever elected in the office.
While I completely …
While I completely agree that the Vietnam conflict was NOT “Johnson’s War,” President Johnson did escalate the war and increased troop levels. Eisenhower did not start the mess, that was Truman, but he did exacerbate the situation by helping to create a “South Vietnam.”
You have to remnber …
You have to remnber the times…Goldwater, John Birchers, Soviet Union, Plus I think Kennedry polices entrapped Johnson into this mess…Eisenhower actually started the Vietnam mess, Kennedy’s inaction compounded it!
The same people who …
The same people who opposed the Civil Rights Act , oppose the The Affordable Health Care for America Act : angry old rednecks collectively called teabaggers
President Johnson …
President Johnson had more compassion than Kenned….who’s major preocuppation was his own reelection and womanizing! Johnson made America a more just and etter society! As time will go on-history will judge him more fairly!
Many people believe …
Many people believe that- but remember, even the best Presidents made mistakes.
I cannot agree with …
I cannot agree with “one of the best Presidents” part of thy statement, mainly because of the Vietnam conflict. However, LBJ did accomplish many great things for this country by setting a foundation to end racism and prejudice in the US, and by attempting to alleviate poverty by providing better education and job opportunities. I just feel that many people overlook these because of the profound effect of the escalation of US involvement in the Vietnam conflict.
That sack of …
That sack of of Johnson was killer, liar and a crook.
And those were his good qualities.
Vietnam or not, LBJ …
Vietnam or not, LBJ was one of the best Presidents who ever lived.
I know, but I …
I know, but I wasn’t arguing against the act.
Thanks. Presidents …
Thanks. Presidents need to go against their party more and put aside partisanship to what is right.
but its worth it
but its worth it
Johnson was a …
Johnson was a serial liar who sent 58,000 young people to die in Vietnam.
So he could make mucho money with Brown & Root Construction.
That is a fact….
LBJ was a great …
LBJ was a great president with domestic policy, but awful with foregn policy. He mismanaged Vietnam as bad a Bush mismanaged Iraq. luvs2teach00 was right about democrats loosing the south for generations, but we should all be gratful for LBJ doing this. He went against the southern democrats to do the right thing.
